This was a 13 month project to sustainably develop and interpret, bilingually, the Grade II listed redundant rural chapel and associated school room/stable. To scope and establish a new use for the stable/school room, bringing back into use a redundant heritage asset for the benefit of local people.

Digital Reading Project – 2018 Urdd Eisteddfod

The project collaborated at a strategic level to create a new reading platform that sought to solve two problems. The Lack of understanding of Urdd Gobaith Cymru's work in the area ahead of the Builth Wells 2018 Eisteddfod and the Lack of simple, fun, Welsh language resources for children to share with their non-Welsh speaking parents.

Rodney's Pillar

Rodney’s Pillar is a well-known local landmark, seen for many miles; it has fallen into some disrepair and local residents requested that the Community Council’s look into the matter of ownership and repair. Local community councils applied to Arwain to funding a structural survey and feasibility study.

Saving the Plant One School at a Time

Seed to Saucepan

Seed to Saucepan was a pilot project specifically targeted at adults and school leavers who were economically inactive and wanted to learn and get involved in growing their own food. It also aimed to target local growers to develop a ‘hub’ for managing and processing food surpluses at times of glut.

The Severn Water Integration Management (SWIM) project was delivered by the Severn Rivers Trust over two years (2017-2019) in northern Powys, across the former county of Montgomery.

Supporting Communities

The Supporting Communities Project was a joint project between Powys County Council and PAVO, initiated in response to the high volume of Community Asset Transfer related enquiries received by both organisations.

The Corn Exchange

The Corn Exchange is a wonderful example of people taking the future into their own hands. The building, formerly a public house at the entrance to Crickhowell's historic High Street, was bought by the community to prevent it becoming a supermarket for a national chain.

The Old Stables, Machynlleth

The Old Stables is owned by Machynlleth Town Council, who wished to find a way to protect and refurbish the building on behalf of the community.

The Play Hub

Play Radnor is a rural children's charity that works towards the delivery of quality opportunities for play, recreation and leisure for children and young people in Powys.

The River Friendly Severn Project

The River Friendly project enabled our Senior Community Officer to work with local schools, businesses and volunteer networks. We supported local people in taking action for their rivers to improve water quality, restore habitats and celebrate the diverse wildlife that call them home.

VMRC Project

Community Delivery Public Access Project - the aim of this pilot project was to explore the potential for Powys County Council's Countryside Service to work with communities.

Welsh Biochar

Welsh Biochar was an Arwain funded project which was based at Henfron farm in the Elan Valley, mid Wales.

Welsh in the Outdoor Activity Sector

The Welsh Outdoors project has helped to develop Welsh-medium opportunities across the outdoor pursuits sector, for businesses that provide activities in the area and for the local community.

Wyeside: Building the Future

Wyeside Arts Centre were successful in securing funding under both the LEADER Programme and the Arts Council of Wales for a feasibility study.
